Specimen notes
Public Note:
Small compared to previous collections. Very sticky. Staining paper tissue yellow. Cap covered in powdery veilar fragments. Also present at stem base as fragments. Veilar fragments on stem falling off easily. Context stuffed, white, discolouring slightly yellow. Fragments of cap covering forming a ring zone in central and upper portions of stipe. Gills 5Y814. Taste mild. No smell (Helen says of herbs). Possibly gave me allergic reaction - sneezing. Doesn't dry crispy but remains spongy due to resin content visible in water, melzers and NH4OH mounts, dissolving in acid. No cystidia. Veil of unclamped chains of vesiculose and irregular cells to 70um x 20um, disarticulating. Basidia 4-spored (tetrads seen), without basal clamp, inflated ramose. Spores length=9.2–11.4µm (µ=10.2, σ=0.64), width=9.2–11.3µm (µ=10.1, σ=0.56), Q=1.0–1.1µm (µ=1.01, σ=0.04), n=20. Feeding hyphae in lamella trama with occasional clamps, with pressure cells.
